![]() You shouldn't get lost too bad - there are a lot of subliminal directions built into the maps on where to go ("the only light" or signs that "point the way", the "only open doors", etc).ĭuring Xmas and holidays, they have special events, and there are Mods for the maps made by the company and players, to re-play maps with different settings/objectives/etc. The maps are large, but easy to navigate, there is usually one 'route' that you follow through, together, trying to keep each other alive (if people try to run ahead alone, the horde of zombies will take singled out players too quickly). People mostly just play and run through, no griefing that I have seen, but some say there is a lot. It has a hard-rock soundtrack and realistic sound effects for the weapons/cars/etc.Īll the characters have original voice actors for each (Francis sounds like his voice was auto-tuned down to me lol).Īfter playing through the levels in order for the 'campaign', you can play any levels in Multiplayer, where there are additional modes (such as Zombies vs Humans). It's fast and fun, gory and bloody - but if you want to turn that off, you can (then the zombies just 'fall over'). You can choose between 4 characters (with an additional 4 if you get L4D2) and there are about a dozen maps set in different areas, from Cities and inside buildings to farms and fields and small towns (6 maps from L4D1, but those were eventually ported to the new Engine in L4D2). It is mostly just defending against the mobs of undead that run at you (the 'new undead' from movies, not the 'old undead' who were mostly slow and harmless until they got close) but it has some overall environmental story aspects (similar to the Half Life games, where there wasn't many specifics, but the overall atmosphere of impending doom keeps you moving through the levels). ![]() If I may, you can play with NPC/AI or with other people online, through a Campaign with a simple Storyline.
